Like many Gen-Xers, ever since I was a teenager I’ve been a connoisseur of bizarre and obscure t-shirts. From my old, 1970s, green, “Ask my wife about home improvements” shirt to my green, “Bay Hay and Feed” shirt with llamas on it, I love promoting weird stuff with m. A few years back when big companies like Urban Outfitters started mass producing faux-obscure “Virginia is for Lovers” and “2 Cool 4 School” shirts, I got a little sad. I felt like the secret was out and my own person coolness had been usurped. Fortunately the internet has now allowed me to find more niche designs an feel hip again with my Pirate Bay, Flying Spaghetti Monster, and Break Free of TV shirts.
This morning I came across some great surreal and psychedelic shirts by the Imaginary Foundation. The shirts are strange, uplifting, and awesomely nerdy. Unfortunately they don’t seem to have any baby sized shirts for Claudia yet, but I’ll keep checking back.
Thanks to David Pescovitz at BoingBoing for mentioning them in his Pesco’s San Francisco Faves post.
