Home from the Hospital and Everything is Calming Down

We made it home from the hospital around 6:00 Thursday evening. Neither of us had slept more that a few hours since Sunday so it was great to home. David stopped by with a care package from my office with two big bags of prepared dinners and desserts from A.G. Ferrari. The food’s great and it’s really nice to not have to worry about cooking or going to the grocery for a few days. Thursday night and Friday were a little bit rough as we tried to figure how to run the house on Claudia’s schedule, but last night and today were much more relaxing with everyone eating and getting some sleep. Kiefer was super excited when we came home with Claudia. Initially he was bouncing off the walls and we had to keep him out of the room while Claudia was eating or sitting on the bed, but now he’s learned the boundaries and is a little bit calmer. It seems like he’s going to be a good big brother. I took some more pictures of Claudia hanging out around the house.

Woohoo! Claudia’s here!

Claudia Louise Celsor was born at 4:41 AM this morning (Wednesday, March 21, 2007) at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland. She was 19 1/2 inches long and weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces. Christine started having regular contractions on Sunday night. We decided to go to the hospital at 4:00 AM on Tuesday morning but they sent us home because thing weren’t quite ready. Later that day at 2:30 PM in the afternoon we came back for an appointment and they decided to send us back up to the Labor and Delivery floor. After a long afternoon and night, Claudia showed up at 4:41 AM. She’s totally healthy and weighed about a pound more than anyone was expecting. She’s already squirming around, and eating like a pro. Christine’s doing great and already seems pretty peppy. I think I might be the most worn out member of the family. I posted a few pictures of Claudia’s first minutes out in the big world and I’m sure we’ll take and post a bunch more when we get home. Right now I think everyone will be coming home Thursday.

Prelabor Film Festival

You can’t really do a whole lot of wild and crazy stuff while hanging out waiting for the baby, so we rented a bunch of movies and had a little film festival this weekend. So far we’ve watched Dogtown and Z-Boys, Network, Amadeus, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I think the UFO tones from Close Encounters might have gotten Claudia started. We still have Sunset Boulevard, we’ll see if she gives us a chance to watch it.

Ricky Lackey Be Concubining

I promise to someday post something about Cincinnati that isn’t totally insane but the timing on this story from my dad was way to good to pass up. I’m pretty excited about having one baby soon. This story from the Cincinnati Enquirer tells the tale of Ricky Lackey, an up and coming rapper with six babies on the way (from six different women).

Here’s a snip from the article:

When Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Melba Marsh asked Lackey during sentencing Friday on a charge of attempted theft how many children he had, the 25-year-old said, “None, but I have six on the way.”

A stunned Marsh tried to clarify. “Are you marrying a woman with six children?” she asked.

“No, I be concubining,” he said.

Prosecutors said Lackey is the expectant father of six children with six different women. The women all are expected to deliver in August, September and October.

Lackey’s lawyer, Stephen Wenke, stopped his client from saying more.
